Beaches The region owns one of the most beautiful patrimonies of the Italian coast. Along both coasts of the region, Adriatic and Ionian, there are beautiful golden beaches and nature reserves. Those closer to the Trullo include Torre Santa Sabina Torre Santa Sabina is a beautiful village dating back to the XV century. Torre Aragonese overlooks this beautiful beach and has many shops, restaurants and bars. Torre Guaceto Torre Guaceto is a nature reserve and is a protected area of the World Wildlife Foundation. Cycling, snorkelling and pony trekking are available in this area. The word “Torre” comes from the presence of a tower that is part of a series of towers which are present along this coast line. Specchiolla So called because it is a beautiful place where the sky is reflected by the sea. |

Otranto This is a medieval city – the base of Byzantine power in Italy. Important for its Cathedral built in 1080 which boasts the largest mosaic floor in the world. Lecce Also known as the ‘Florence of the South’ , Lecce displays some beautiful Baroque monuments and also ancient memorials from the Roman or Norman Period. Grottaglie Famous for its China produce in Terracotta which is distributed worldwide. Taranto The city of the two seas. Gallipoli This is the pearl of the Ionian coast. From the sky it looks like an island because it is nearly completely surrounded by the sea. Alberobello The capital of Trulli and centre of Puglia it is a city made of Tulli. |
